The Stock Market

Several days ago, I was reading the news headlines on the internet. As I read how the stock market had taken a sudden plunge, I heard a very strange thing in my spirit; I heard the Woody Woodpecker laugh. I haven't heard that in years, since I am well past the age of watching Saturday morning cartoons. I saw in the spirit a line representing the stock market bouncing up and down like it had gone crazy.

I'm not sure what hearing Woody Woodpecker's laughter meant, but I felt what I saw meant the stock market would be very unstable and would go through many dramatic ups and downs in the future.

I was not shown how long it might last, but I felt the Lord showing me it was He who had orchestrated what was happening.

Is. 2:18: And the idols he shall utterly abolish.

  1. Dear Glynda,
After reading your post, this is what I got in my spirit. Woody woodpecker is a crazy bird. The USA is a crazy bird-an evil bird. Our money comes from trees. A lot of people will say, "knock on wood" meaning, they had good luck. Well "luck be a lady" is coming to an end. Instead of trusting KING YESHUA and giving HIM praise and glory for our riches
we have trusted in the created and made it a god and idol. How many salivate seeing a whole stack of hundred dollar bills? But it burns like paper, burns like dry wood! KING YESHUA will not be mocked.
    Romans 1:25
    Psalm 2

    Blessings and peace to you,
    Deirdre

  2. Deirdre, Wow - thank you for that post! I was hoping someone could shed some light on the Woody Woodpecker laugh!

  3. I took this differently--

Perhaps clearly a woodpecker to indicate that God is pecking away at our (false security) financial foundations and will keep pecking away until the whole thing eventually collapses ("Timber!"). Yes, it may seem frenetic or madness on the surface of things but there be method to it, so to speak.

  4. Hi Glynda,

I’m always up for a challenge and have been trying to chase down these same little statements that seem not to fit anyplace or make sense. Apart from the mocking laugh of the woodpecker, I figured I’d do a little poking about on this.

Loosely, the rule of “first mention” might be applied.

“Woody Woodpecker first appeared in the film Knock Knock on November 25, 1940. The cartoon ostensibly stars Andy Panda and his father, Papa Panda, but it is Woody who steals the show. The woodpecker constantly pesters the two pandas, apparently just for the fun of it. Andy, meanwhile, tries to sprinkle salt on Woody's tail in the belief that this will somehow capture the bird. To Woody's surprise, Andy's attempts prevail, and Woody is taken away to the funny farm — but not before his captors prove to be crazier than he is.”(Find this ref at Wikipedia here:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Woody_Woodpecker#Voice_artists)

I talk about the beginning in the “Interesting Stuff” below, but the first thing that caught my was is the core of the message. It starts with a knocking on the door, but when the panda goes to open it, no one is there. As I watched this I was thinking of this scripture, which seems to fit the context.

    Rev 3:14-22

    And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God;

I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.

So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.

Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:

I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.

As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.

Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.

He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

Answering the door when the woodpecker knocks is empty, frustrating and crazy; but opening the door when the Lord knocks is profitable.

    Interesting Stuff:

    1. An interesting type as China’s role in the decline of America as a whole, and its emergence as an economic power house. In short for nations to decline in world influence, a challenger must arise for the USA, it is China.

    2. Then there is this curiosity, what the Poppa panda is looking at is an event card for a race and the contestants’ in that race. It reads:

    Eczema… Scratch this one.
    Bustle… Bring up the rear.
    Opium… This is a dope.
    Noon Hour… Twelve to one.

    3. The story opens with a question, “Can you really catch a bird by putting salt on its tail?” This is an “old wives tale,” but an interesting question.

  5. Hi Glynda,

When I hear that woodpecker laugh, I hear that it has to do with mocking. The Lord gave me Isa. 66:4 "So I also will choose their delusions and mockings, their calamities and afflictions, and I will bring their fears upon them--because when I called no one answered; when I spoke they did not listen or obey. But they did what was evil in My sight and chose that which I did not delight." (Amp) What delights God is to do His will, by listening to His Spirit's lead. Yes, it is the Lord's doing as part of chastising for those that have ears to hear who to put their trust in--not silver and gold, but Him (Prov. 11:28). This is God's mercy for those that will seek it in these tough times. It is not to hurt them, but to direct them into the right heart attitude towards what God has given us and how to use it for His glory alone. In addition to, not making it as a god and trusting in it's provisions. Because only the Lord is the true Provider of all things.

  6. For what it's worth:

"To see a woodpecker in your dream, indicates that there is something in your waking life which you have overlooked. The woodpecker also symbolizes industry and diligence."

--As God gives you words for the body as a whole, perhaps it is saying we are so consumed with the maniacal nature of the stock market whilst overlooking too the essentials and in that God will eventually bring it all down?

  7. Now you've done it... got me watching cartoons.

Might also want to take a look at this one, it just cought my eye... Entitled "PANTRY PANIC" the woodpecker refuses to heed the warning of an approaching storm, the other birds migrate, but the woodpecker mocks the warning. When the storm comes he bunkers into his house, but a whirlwind takes away his food and he stares starvation in the face (literally). A cat comes and they are both intent on eating one another… basically till “The End.”

I'm feeling a little “Looney Tunes” myself: no more cartoons for me!

  8. The Stock market will eventually collapse. The ups and downs of Woody's laughs could be a sign of tempting the minds of people, those that have been putting their faith in financial institutions and paper, with the ups and downs of the markets. Will their lives make a turn for the worse or better? Will they take their lumps and get out while they still have something left? Will they turn to their Heavenly Father for their refuge and security? Or; will they run to gold and wager that the powers that be, won't take dominion over it and rule it useless without taking the mark?
